Equitable Partnerships & Impartiality

Inequitable structures can, and do, exist when partnering or committing to impact work. We should all aspire to a more equitable future with program participants and between partners, so if I see something that's working well or have a suggestion, I'll highlight this through my work.

An obstacle to greater equity in environmental and social impact is familiarity bias. All too often partnerships are held back from their full potential because who we know already is an unconscious factor in allocating resources. I'll always flag where I have connections or experience with organisations, and detail how I've tackled my own bias, to offer you the best advice.

Use of AI

AI is here for the long term, and I am learning how to maximise it to increase productivity and performance. However, Banana Leaf Fundraising will not: produce content through AI and pass it off as original, share commercially sensitive or personal data with AI systems, learn from AI through our work together without sharing back with you how it was used. I also work on a 'no AI' basis if that works better for your organisation.

Gemma Saunders-Brennan

Hi, I'm Gemma and I set up Banana Leaf Fundraising to focus on doing good in the environmental and social impact sector. I have a particular passion for partnerships, believing that when organisations equitably share expertise and resources we can make change faster, and better! I enjoy working on a variety of projects and thrive when things are new or require immediate action, so the freelance life makes sense for me.

I work remotely (Banana Leaf Fundraising is set up in the United Kingdom) and have experience of working across international time-zones and travelling for work when it adds value. When I'm not working on Banana Leaf Fundraising, I can be found either chasing a hockey ball around, exploring nature with my family, or with my face in a good book.
